Social Worker or Intern for a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA)

Social Worker, LPHA Intern or MFT Intern, a professional in the Behavioral Health field. Reports to the full time LPHA who is also the Clinical Director for Twelfth Step House dba Heartland House. Performs duties assigned and/or delegated by the LPHA, Executive Director, Medical Director and/or Program Manager. Utilizes the chain of command to report all issues and/or problems effecting or related to Heartland House directly to the LPHA or Program Manager who shall advise the Medical Director and/or Executive Director.

The Social Worker or Intern LPHA will maintain a case load assigned to them and will be responsible for facilitating groups/lectures as well as one on one sessions. To motivate clients to actively participate in their own recovery process, assisting them with learning skills, gain knowledge to improve their lives as they may live without drugs or alcohol and related to living with co-occurring conditions. 

Job Requirements:

  • Maintain positive, professional boundaries, relationships with clients, staff, physicians, visitors and other staff.
  • Collect information about clients, using techniques such as biopsychosocial screens, interviewing, discussion, observation and mental health screening.
  • Complete ASAM Level of Care
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports including updated LOC and case management
  • Counsel clients individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, maladjustment aiding them in making positive changes and
  • Collaborate with other staff members to perform clinical assessments.
  • Attend Treatment Team Staff meetings.
  • Act as client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Conduct one on ones with families and conduct groups for SUD/Co-occurring educations
  • Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary
  • Document interactions with the client using client files and/or management system.
  • Secure a Release of Information for the client’s family, friends, sponsor and anyone who will be involved in client’s treatment.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Behavioral Health or Social Work.
  • Intern to become licensed as an LPHA or MFT.
  • Capability to perform routine administrative assignments.
  • Capability to provide best practices, client specific prevention and early intervention with related to co-occurring mental health issues.
  • Have familiarity with Substance Use Disorder.
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite and Learning Management System (LMS) training software.

Job Type: Part-time, 16 Hours Week.

Weekly schedule to be determined. Coverage for full time LPHA, such as vacation time.   

Salary: $35.00 hour
