Juvenile Recovery Specialist

Status: Full-time, $36,000/year plus excellent benefits excellent benefits, including comprehensive health insurance coverage, wellness program and generous PTO plan.
Specific Responsibilities: The Juvenile Recovery Specialist will report to the Program Manager. Perform comprehensive alcohol and drug assessments for youth and their families. Provide home, school or program-based alcohol and drug counseling, crisis intervention and referral to appropriate treatment and recovery services to youth participating in the Community Unit – GRF – JRF - JFAST – PYJI – Day Treatment Sites Programs of the Juvenile Probation Department’s BridgeWays Program. Coordinate project and community treatment resources, as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements: Must have ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist students. Must have ability to hear and speak to exchange information and make presentations. Must have ability to lift and carry 20 pounds--lifting books, materials and equipment to execute lessons and presentations. Seeing to read, prepare and review a variety of activities and to monitor youth activities. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Walking extended lengths to move around sites. Potential exposure to physical injury from aggressive behavior.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with CADAAC and two years experience in working with adolescents, in an alcohol or other drug setting or equivalent knowledge and experience. Must have or be willing to obtain Alcohol and other Drug Certification. Experience in crisis intervention. Familiar with the Juvenile Justice/Probation Systems. Ability to pass Juvenile Probation clearance. Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary team. Good driving record and willing to use own, properly insured vehicle for the job. Able to obtain CPR/First-Aid Certificate. Bi-cultural/bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred. Willing to go through clearance process including TB and drug testing. (Hire is pending the results of appropriate clearances). Familiarity with all areas in the San Diego County area. Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred.
