We're looking for Interns whom need hours towards RADT I-II, CADC I-II, come join our expanding program to get detailed on all 12 core functions, get prepared to enter into the AOD/SUD field.

Job Description

POSITION TITLE: AOD Counselor Intern - Non-Paid

Program: Outpatient Programs

Job Description: The Alcohol & Drug Counselor Intern works under the direction of the Primary AOD Counselor and/or Assistant Program Director.

The AOD Counselor Intern is a non-paid position and may perform duties in the areas of the AOD Counselor. AOD Counselor Interns are provided Clinical Supervision and training parallel to the 12 Core Functions of a Substance Abuse Counselor.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Primary AOD Counselor or Assistant Program Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Under the direction of a Certified AOD Counselor)

  • Intakes, charting and discharges
  • Communication with AOD Clinical staff regarding concerns or questions.
  • Functions consistent with agency mission and philosophy including confidentiality and participants rights and responsibilities
  • Interns will be trained in areas essential to maintaining confidentiality
  • Completes  reports, progress reports and other required documentation as requested.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Informs the AOD Counselor or Assistant Program Director of incidents and situations following protocol and utilizing appropriate judgment
  • Follows all program policies
  • May include driving and accompanying clients to off site groups.

JOB RELATED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  • Interns must have a minimum of 3 business days available to complete required internship hours.
  • Interns in an approved AOD Program requiring hours will be provided with supervision with a certified AOD Counselor for needed hours toward certification

EDUCATION, and WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Department of Motor Vehicle Drivers License without restrictions
  • Enrolled in a Substance Abuse Counseling Program
  • Registration with an accredited Certifying Agency

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & CLEARANCE:

Clearance on Background/DOJ Live scan result per contract
