While other treatment programs offer counseling only, we integrate individual, family and group counseling, with complete medical care by a physician who specializes in addiction medicine. In recent years, a variety of prescription medications have become available for detoxification, relapse prevention and treatment of underlying disorders. Synergy delivers a comprehensive and individualized treatment approach, combining counseling and medical services, tailored to the patients’ specific needs. Synergy is the only outpatient treatment program in Kern County that uses this treatment model.

Founded in 1978 Strategies for Change is considered one of the most comprehensive substance abuse and co-occurring treatment agencies for both men and women in Sacramento County. Since 2005 we have included integrated co-occurring disorders treatment as part of our menu of services, providing science informed, theory driven, evidence based substance abuse and mental health, co-occurring & support services for adults, youth & families. In our efforts to be a one-stop-shop for individuals seeking help we also provide specific counseling services for women who are pregnant, individual with developmental disabilities and cognitive impairments, individuals that are HIV positive, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Parenting, as well as offender rehabilitation. This reflects our longstanding concern for treating the whole person, and recognizing the importance of ensuring that entry into any one system can provide access to all needed systems.
